Ode To Hair

Ode to the hair that hung just past my shoulder
I didn't know what to do you just kept getting older.

Your ends were dry,
I Know why.

Color processes and flat iron daily
Made your follicle so sad and wavy.

So what to do you think and say
Well chop it all off hip hip hooray!

Now here it is...
Short with no over processed frizz.

The Joy of hair, one minute it's here
The next minute it's there.

ONE YEAR OLD!!!!!

Teags had a birthday and we shouted hooray! We sang to her that day, she's one years old and wiser too. Happy birthday Teagan we love you!!!
She got some wonderful presents and love every second of the wrapping paper.
Devin picked out Teag's cute birthday outfit. ( just tilt your head so this picture is straight.)
Wrapping paper anyone, I'll share.
The highlight of the night, the CAKE.
She started out a little slow just picking at the nose.
Then it was time to dive in handfuls of cake, frosting, cake, frosting, cake, frosting...... One year old BLISS!
Again tilt head. I'm so proud not only it she covered in cake but look how big is Teagan, So big!   We had such a wonderful night thanks again to our most fantastic family that helped make Teagan's birthday all the more special. We love you all!!!

Vroom Vroom

Did I forget to mention we got Teagan her first car. She already has a cell phone so we figured it was a natural progression. Or it was a Teagan Devin toy outing while I was working.
Either way She is way happy about it!
Until we changed it to were she has to stand and walk behind it, then it's game over.
Come on Teagan you can do it, You're so close. Walking is way more fun than crawling. We can go to the park and you won't just sit and eat grass. When you're with Grandma Char you can chase the dogs around. Lane and Burke are ready to run around the Chipman race way with you. You can help Grady get walking maybe Diem. Elliott's ready for Olympic soccer training so she'll have crazy tips to help you refine your skills.

Teags all it takes is that first step!

Why?

For those of you that know my in laws know that marathons are like candy to them. You can't just do one... a year. So I spend a lot of time at the finish lines cheering on our runners. feeling the excitement of seeing all walks of life crossing that line, some stumbling, some crying, most just holding their heads up high loving that the last .2 of the 26 is over.

Well October 3 will be here in no time and it will be my time to cross that line hopefully with my head  held high. St. George Marathon I've ran you before and you still scare me. This time I know what I'm getting myself into and that's what is sick because I'm still doing it.

Here is my conclusion on this whole marathon stuff. Yes the race is hard but the training come on give my a break. 4-5 days a week running not just casually. Your training, getting your miles up, but not too fast or you injure your self. You have early mornings or late nights, constant thoughts of your training routine. Me personally I'm hungry all the time due to the calorie burn good... I don't know because I don't fight hunger I give in, and eat my weight in chips. There's the Blisters, loss of toe nails, body glide, chalky face, and the lovely runner stench.

So when you think how do people run a marathon really your thoughts should wonder how do people train for a marathon. Yet I'm still excited to cross through that blue and white balloon arch with the wonderful misters. Get my Blue Bunny ice cream and chow chow chow all day because I just burned like 1302948203 calories. It feels so amazing to finish that it makes it all worth it. I do have to say that child birth was easier than my last marathon they don't make epidurals for marathons, little food for thought.

Memorial Day!

Memorial day is always a favorite day of mine. It is usually beautiful weather and a great kick off to summer!!!!!  My family has the long standing tradition of the " Grave Run" we go to 3 different grave yards see distant relative, and enjoy the free hot dogs they hand out at our last stop, I know weird hot dogs at a cemetery but you don't mess with tradition.  After the "run" we end up at the Cinderella Park (Evergreen Park) and picnic. Teagan Loved her first slide.

She wasn't quit sure what to think of the rotting bee.
Loved the horse. Devin can we get a pony?
Could not get enough of the swings, wind in her hair, and sunshine on her cheeks.
Devin couldn't resist hopping on for a quick swing with Teags.
But the highlight of our day was visiting Caitlyn and Bret's BEAUTIFUL baby girl Diem. She was born at 2:14 this morning 7 lbs 11 ounces 22 inches long. Welcome to the world sweet little girl we love you!

Amish or iphone

I recently purchased an iphone, cool right? Well yes, then why did I have to be talked into buying it and still not really embracing the crap out of it.

Well probably because I'm fascinated with the Amish. They live such a sweet life centered around family and simplicity no power, make their own clothes, milk cows, grow pumpkins for pumpkin cookies not jack-o-lanterns, grow beards, cool buns, get to have all sorts of animals. (Devin please could we get a dog)

So here I am caught in the middle of my fast paced world full of technology and my inner thoughts of a simple life free of distractions. Maybe that's why I haven't been blogging much and needed so much cohersing to get an iphone.

So what to do... garden or blog,  sew or facebook, bake or watch T.V. Well I will just do them all and hope that I can still have a simple family centered life with the perks of technology. Moderation in all things right?!

All I need is a pool or a sticker

Since this week was warm for two days I thought Teagan needed to go swim suit shopping. Usually I hate this kind of shopping. Standing in a poorly lit dressing room with socks on staring at your pasty winter body... Yuck  Now it's awesome I just skip my whole swim suit sections stroll on over to Teagan's clothing area and there are so many choices I just can't decide.
Not that this story has any thing to do with swimming I just think it's funny. At Teagan's 9 month check up she had an ear infection. So we get her on the oh so tasty bubble gum medicine. Two weeks go by and she's doing great I think, till she stops eating solids. I feed her and she takes a bite and then acts like she's choking, this happened for about 3 days. I kept looking in her mouth to see if there is anything in there and notice that she might have thrush because I see some white spots on the roof of her mouth.

I move up her follow up Dr. appointment from friday to monday. So after she gets a clean check on her ears our Dr. asks about the thrush. I tell him that it's on the roof of her mouth, he tells me it doesn't usually show up there. So he takes his tongue depressant scraps the top of her mouth... Oh out comes a clear plastic sticker with white lint stuck to it... oops Sorry Dr. Havlik I swear I watch her and clean my floors... I was so embarrassed, Her "thrush" was a sticker with lint on it stuck to her mouth for like 4 days. So I went home and cleaned my floors.
One more thing Teagan is turning into a vampire. No not the kind that sparkle in the sun light. The ones with fangs because those are the teeth that just broke through. Either that or a little girl that lost her 2 front teeth.
